This album is the true foundation of the Jääportit sound, a stark and minimalist journey into the heart of an eternal winter. Originally released on cassette, the work captures the coldest moments of the season, when the music was forged with very rudimentary instruments. The collaboration with Aslak Tolonen proved profoundly meaningful: alongside his iconic cover artwork, the timeless Jääportit emblem logo was born during the same sessions.

To say this is an honor to reissue this work is an understatement… Jääportit’s “Kauan Koskematon” from 1999 is nothing short of a masterpiece which I consider the crown jewel of so called “winter synth”, now available on cassette for the first time in over 20 years.
