The story of Jääportit began with a name seen in a dream, around which the whole project took shape through this very first release. Entirely self-burned CD-R discs, with covers printed in black and white at school, formed a limited batch of fifty copies spread to listeners through small Finnish distros. This deeply independent start caught the attention of the Noitavasara label, and by the autumn of 1998 the groundwork for the next album was already underway.
